This refreshingly crisp, dry finishing sauvignon blanc, from the Mt. Avoca Winery in Western Victoria’s Pyrenees cool climate wine growing region, is enhanced by partial barrel fermentation, adding layers of texture to a delightfully fruity and slightly minerally wine. With an aromatic nose mostly driven by melon, supported by paw paw, passionfruit, pineapple, with underlying hints of fresh asparagus, herbs, and subtle citrus notes, the palate has a baseline of chalky citrus acidity, set up by an undeniable plushness of melon, nashi pear and a melange of more of those tropical fruits providing both breadth and depth. To finish, there is a flash of lemony acidity, helping to provide structure and length, that makes this wine the must do partner of milder cheeses like camembert, or goat’s cheese, or a light seafood such as pan-fried snapper or BBQ prawns, served with an array of salads.
Please note this wine is only available up to half dozen lots, or in a mixed dozen.
